Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a section of commonly asked questions about Counselling and Therapy.

However if your answer is not on here, then email me and I will provide an answer.

Will my counselling sessions be confidential

All our sessions are confidential and anything you bring to the session stays with me. There are only a few occasions when this is not ethically possible but I will explain and discuss those with your in our first meeting.

Do you work under a recognised organisation

I work under the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). My work follows their ethical framework and standards and as such I am answerable to them. They are the main national counselling and psychotherapy organisation

What is counselling?

Counselling or Therapy is a process of personal growth which provides the opportunity to explore thoughts, emotions and behaviours. If you have a specific  emotional  or relational issue, working with a trained therapist, can help enhance the quality of life and well-being.

Does therapy work?

A very common question. Numerous studies have shown that people who were active in therapy did better compared to those who were passive. Therapy had produced positive effects in more than 92% of the participants who decided to undergo counselling for their mental and emotional issues.

What if I have to cancel?

If you cancel a session with 48 hours notice or more, you will not be charged. I still need to charge if you can not attend with less than 48 hours notice, because I have allocated time and prepared for session. However, there is some discretion with this, depending on your circumstances

How do I pay for your services?

I ask for payment by BACS 48 hours before the start of a session. I will share these details after consultation.
